Two Geeks and a Baby

We took this picture this fall at an Art Exhibition down on the Potomac called Figment DC.  Branden brought his interactive art piece, the Blitter Bike which you can see in the background.  He built this custom 32 x 32 screen and programed it to display 8 bit sprites that a user can change using a joystick.  It sort of makes you into a video DJ.  And some of the sprites, like Mario there, also react to when the bike is moving.  As the bike goes faster Mario starts to walk, then jog, then full on run.

It’s a fun thing.

And even more fun is watching Kai run up to people and start explaining how things work and how “My Dad” built it. <3

And yes, this is the best picture of the 4 of us together I’ve been able to find.  You should see the outtakes.  Oh lord that boy (take your pick) can twist his face into some really unlikely contortions.
